Battlefield 1942 Showdown Debriefing
On the eve of August 22, 2002, the USS Hornet was redeployed for combat in Alameda, California. On board, the first line of defense huddled around 46 monitors to ready their battle positions for a long night of combat as EA GAMES hosted the Battlefield 1942 Showdown.
Attendees experienced the complete version of Battlefield 1942 by fighting on maps many have never seen. Iwo Jima, Omaha Beach Guadalcanal, and Kursk. Players from the top gaming magazines and web sites were on hand to work together and against, in the struggle to win. To show them how to really play, Battlefield 1942's development team from Digital Illusions CE in Stockholm, Sweden were in on the action to experience how Americans really play.
When the smoke cleared, Battlefield 1942 proved that even in war soldiers can walk away with a smile. For a taste of what's to come in September, download the multiplayer demo featuring the Wake Island map.
